I got this recipe from Fresh Daily Eggs Blog – she’s a great resource for all things chickens! This past weekend I made it for the girls and they LOVED it. I’ll attach her recipe below!
Ingredients
- 1 40-50 lb. Chicken Layer Feed
- 10 cups Flock Flax
- 4 cups Sunflower Seeds
- 2 cups Rolled Oats or Hull-less Oat Groats
- 1 1/2 cups food-grade Diatomaceous Earth
- 1 cup Brewers Yeast and Garlic Powder
- 1 cup Probiotic Powder
- 1/2 cup Coop Kelp
- Optional Add-ins:
- 2 cups Cracked Corn or scratch grains (best during the winter, omit in summer)
- 2 cups Dried grubs, (most beneficial during the fall molting season)
- 1/2 cup Cayenne pepper (helps with circulation during cold months, helps repel rodents)
- 1 cup dried peppermint (helps repel rodents, digestive aid, thought to be a laying stimulant)
